Needs more mandibles.

Started drawing a bunch of different head concepts for an crustacean-like alien race. Really just kind of spitballing and seeing what I could come up with for some interesting looking faces. 

I have a couple favorites here, but which one(s) do you like?

Dogshark

Got bored at work earlier this week and drew a dog-shark kinda monster. Instead of inking it like i would usually do, I decided to shade it with pencils which I have not done in quite a while.
Scanned it in, opened it up in Photoshop, touched it up a little, and coloured it while eating cupcakes and drinking bad coffee!
It was a very good way to spend Friday.

PANZER.

So back in the day I used to play this pen and paper superhero RPG with a group of friends down at the local hobby shop and we had this recurring villain named 'Panzer' who was a WWII Nazi cyborg who was reawakened in the present day and would frequently take on the entire team of us, often coming very close to bloody well killing us all. He was the coolest villain we fought in my opinion and we always dreaded having him show up in our games. I always had this image of him in my head as this horribly scared and mutilated aryan man encased in this huge, hulking juggernaught of a powered exoskeleton, a slightly tragic figure, but completely menacing and determined.

I like birds.

There have been a few cardinals around at home recently, just doing bird stuff and taking baths in the eavesdrops (which is adorable!) and I decided to draw them (or at least the male) since they are one of my favorite local birds.

It also got me thinking, are Catholic Cardinals named after the bird or is the bird named after the Catholics? Is the cardinal native to North America or is there a species in Europe?
How funny would it be to have the bird hold an office at the Vatican?

Getting close to the end of 3rd year now.
We where given/assigned some "bonus" work to put up in the Illustration Hall that is supposed to both demonstrate our work and our experience of 3rd year.
So, I made this (finishing it in the wee hours of the morning): it's how I like to work and because I like to draw stylized human hearts when I get depressed, which has been the general tone of 3rd year.
On the upside, I think I'm finally starting to come into my own as an artist with stuff like this.

Chalk kitchen octopus!

So, one of the walls in the kitchen at home is covered in chalkboard paint, and every month or so I spend about an hour drawing something on it with chalk to liven up the place a bit.
So, a couple weeks back I drew a Giant Pacific Octopus creeping out from behind the fridge.

I chose to do a series of images dealing with an octopus partly because it's my favorite animal EVER and so much fun to draw, and because I think it really embodies the idea of deception.

Tyrannosaurus: Tyrant Lizard King

I call her Suzann!

Tyrannosaurus was an apex predator that lived in what is now North America during the late Cretaceous before the mass extinction events roughly 65 million years ago.  
The largest member of the Tyrannosarinea family, Tyrannosaurus was a massive land predator designed to combat heavily armored prey such as triceratops, and could deliver approximately 3000lb of pressure in a single bite, enough to shatter bone and tear muscle with ease.
Tyrannosaurus was not built for speed, scientist think it could have run under 15km/h at top speed, meaning it was probably an opportunistic predator, scavenging kills whenever possible, but capable of hunting.

After 16 hour work day I have finally finished the spot illustrations.
We where given the title of a news story to base our ideas on for this project.
The articles in order are "Number of Americans who Believe the Federal Govornment is Taping their Phone: 1 in 5", " British youth being bullied by text messaging", "1 in 4 dogs are overweight", and "Chances a lesbian couple is raising a family in America: 1 in 4".

Really happy with the first two personally, not so much the last two.

FIRST PROJECT OF ILLUSTRATION YEAR 3: THE REVENGENCING!

Okay, so if this makes no sense at all, you are still sane (congratulations). It requires some explination. The project involved us overhearing a conversation, and then from what we overherd, making some kind of illustration based around that. The words on the left? That's what I overheard.
I immediatly had this great mental image of a SWAT team just busting down a door and gunning down this little gerbil and I thought that was freekin' hilarious! But why would a SWAT team be sent in to kill a gerbil? Obviously because that gerbil is a drug lord.
Yep, that's how my mind works.

It is a scary, scary place in here.

Two creature designs for the Sheridan Creature of the Month club. The top one is for the theme "Bio-luminescent Beast" and is based on blind salamanders and deep sea creatures.
The bottom one is just a dragon I did over a month in goauch and watercolour

These are a series of illustrations for a narrative project in Second year. We where given a choice of two stories and had to create a double-page, full page, half page and spot illustration based on scenes from our story. I chose the Anteater where a rich boy gets a pet anteater, doesn't feed it, and it eventually eats the boy's "Aunt" (see what they did there?) and then him.
That was so much fun!
